“The best teacher is the one who suggests rather than dogmatizes, and
inspires his listener with the wish to teach himself.”
Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton
Learner-centered teaching is an approach to teaching that is
increasingly being encouraged in education.
Learner-centered teachers do not employ a single teaching method.
This approach emphasizes a variety of different types of methods that shifts
the role of the instructors from givers of information to facilitating student
learning.
Traditionally instructors focused on what they did, and not on what the
students are learning, the idea of learner centered approach goes in a totally
different perspective “instructor-centered teaching.” occurs when instructors
focus on student learning.
Motivation and affect are some the aspects we should involve n this
approach, the benefits of learner-centered education include increased
motivation for learning and greater satisfaction with school.
Research shows that personal involvement, intrinsic motivation,
personal commitment, confidence in one’s abilities to succeed, if we consider
that we must understand which is our job as teachers, we should be students facilitators
but they are responsible for their learning based on their motivation.
Peronally this type of approach may be very useful for us, as futur
tecaher. we must hel or students to find the way to cretae their own leraning.
